Slingsby and Sinnington hosted successful events over the weekend.
Slingsby Community Primary School held their annual Scarecrow Trail event over the bank holiday weekend (April 30-May 2).
The family event was organised by Friends of Slingsby School (FOSS) and raised just over £1,300 to benefit the children of the school.
The trail included a vote for your favourite scarecrow and this year’s winner was 'What do you call a flock of chickens having fun? Hen Party’ by Meg O’Connor, who won a family pass to Dalby Forest.
A spokesperson for the School said: “Thank you to everyone who visited and supported this year’s Scarecrow Trail. We hope to see you at our next fundraising event.
The Slingsby Community Primary School Family Fun Day and Duck Race will take place on Saturday, July 16.
In Sinnington, their Mayfair event organised by the Village Hall took place on Monday (May 2).
The well attended event returned after a two-year gap with various stalls offering local produce and entertainment activities.
The village's ‘Green Man’, Trevor Robinson, started the proceedings, which included a display of traditional Maypole dancing by pupils from Sinnington Primary School.
Roger Hudson, Chairman of the Sinnington Village Hall Committee, said: “Some suggest that this was the busiest Mayfair in recent years and the efforts of all the volunteers co-ordinated by Village Hall Secretary, Alison Mitchell, were very much appreciated.”
The event’s other popular features included the dog show, welly wanging and the treasure island hunt.
