Malton Museum is calling for additional support from the local community this month.
The museum will be opening its doors to the public in search of new volunteer recruits to join them in their next chapter.
The historic site, which has been an integral feature of the Malton town centre for the last century, will host a Spring Museum Open Day on Thursday, May 19 for anyone who might be interested in volunteering.
Acting Museum Chair, Margaret Shaw, said: “We’re extremely lucky to already have such a committed, engaged group of local volunteers who ensure the survival of the Museum each day.
"We’re very aware that the expansion of Malton and Norton over recent years, including over the pandemic, means that there will be many new people to the area who will not be as familiar with what an amazing place Ryedale is.
"Volunteering at the Museum is not only the perfect way to learn more about the local area, but the perfect way to make new friends, help local families and children, all whilst supporting the museum and ensuring its survival for future generations to enjoy."
It is open to anyone whether you have an interest in history, getting to go behind the scenes in a museum archive or just meeting new people and getting involved in the local community.
The open day will start from 10.30am at the Museum in the Subscription Rooms, Yorkersgate, Malton, YO17 7AB.
