CROWDS gathered at memorial services across the district today as the people of Ryedale marked Remembrance Sunday.
In Malton, hundreds of people turned out in bright autumn sunshine for the annual service at the town’s war memorial to remember those who sacrificed their lives.
Following the service, a parade took place from the war memorial through the town,.
A spokesperson fro the Royal British Legion’s Malton, Norton and District branch said there had been a good turnout of people. “It was a lovely day, weather-wise and the Remembrance Sunday service and wreath laying ceremony was extremely well attended,” he said. “There was a fantastic show of support and respect by the community. Very many thanks to everyone who came along and paid tribute to those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom.”
Elsewhere services were held at towns and villages across Ryedale attended by members of the public and civil dignitaries along with past and present servicemen and women.
