A fundraiser has completed a 12-hour challenge for charity.
Ginette Sixsmith, signed up for the the Marie Curie Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge back in January 2020.
She said: "I thought, New Year, new challenge, however, no one was expecting a year like we had.
"After a little bit of thought I signed up and then realised, Three Peaks, 24 miles, 12 hours, what a Muppet!
Ginette, who lives in West Heslerton, said:"Second thought, these nurses helped our family out when we needed help the most, not only did they provide five star care but also someone to chat too.
"After a very strange start to the year for everyone, Marie Curie Nurses and staff have been at the front line of a pandemic caring for patients in their own homes and hospices.
"I cant imagine how difficult it must be for everyone. If walking a few miles, hopefully in lovely weather and taking in some great views at the same time, raises some vital money for a great charity, then bring it on."
The Yorkshire Three Peaks route is 24 miles (38.6km), and includes 1585m (5200ft) of ascent.
The challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, usually in this order, and in under 12 hours.
These peaks form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Ginette said: "On June 26, I put on my walking boots and set off into the Dales at 6am.
"Little did I know - and probably for the best - that I needed to be half- human and half-mountain goat to scrabble up and down the hills.
"My challenge was completed in just over 10.5 hours, every penny that was donated goes to our local Marie Curie Nurses so they are able to care for patients with terminal illnesses in the comfort of their own homes.
"It’s cost £180 to provide nursing support in someone’s home for one night.
My aim was to raise £300 but thanks to friends, family and everyone at Foxhill Boarding Kennels, Cattery & Dog Grooming, where I work, I was able to raise an amazing £1,350.A massive thank-you to everyone who supported my crazy idea. "
Marie Curie provides frontline nursing and hospice care and a free support line .
