A MALTON-based company has secured £150,000 of funding to create a new manufacturing facility and double its staff.

The Yorkshire Pudding Pie Company, was established by Lynne and Ted Harrison in 2017 as a small family-run business.

Ted first created what is known as a 'Puddy; with Sunday lunch leftovers for a snack and realised the commercial potential.

Using locally-sourced ingredients, the traditional pie, uses Yorkshire pudding instead of pastry. The Puddies have since been sold at food festivals, pop-up pubs, weddings and online.

The investment includes £50,000 from NPIF– BEF & FFE Microfinance, part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund, and £100,000 invested directly by BEF( British Enterprise Fund).

The funding will help the business to meet growing demand from online customers, supermarkets and independent retailers.

Ted said: "NPIF and BEF have been incredibly supportive in helping us to grow the sales of our lovely Puddies, they're great examples of financial institutions doing their bit to support small businesses gain access to finance."
