A MOUNTAIN rescue team has successfully retrieved a missing walker on the North York Moors.
Twenty members of Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team (SRMRT), North Yorkshire Police, a search dog and a fixed wing aircraft from the National Police Air Service attended the incident at Levisham Station yesterday evening.
The team was deployed at 8.30pm and searched for more than four hours.
A spokesperson for the SRMRT said: “We were called by North Yorkshire Police to reports of a walker who had become separated from his group on a circular route on the North York Moors in failing light and had subsequently failed to return to his vehicle.
“After a combined search with team members, North Yorkshire Police and a fixed wing aircraft from the National Police Air Service (NPAS) the gentleman was found safe and well and returned to his vehicle.”
