A FORMER Ryedale student is the scriptwriter behind a new multi-million pound movie, currently being filmed around Ryedale and North Yorkshire.
Toby Latham, 23, who attended Terrington Hall School, is the brainchild behind a new romantic drama, starring Game Of Thrones actor Roger Ashton-Griffith.
The upcoming film, called Let There Be Love, also includes five-year-old Terrington Hall School pupil Raphael Martinez, who is playing the role of Tiny Tim.
Taking part in filming over the school holidays, Raphael has been surrounded by the filming world since he was a baby with parents Megan and Philippe Martinez working in the film industry.
Raphael said: “I enjoyed having a part in the movie, it was fun, but it’s not a big deal for me.”
Stephen Mulryne, head teacher at Terrington Hall School, said: “I am so pleased to hear of the success of our former pupil Toby. The whole school is also proud of Rafael, appearing in a film at just five years of age.”
Film crews were in Sheriff Hutton on Thursday, after filming in York’s Marygate car park and under Lendal Bridge. The Christmas-themed film, set to be released during the festive season this year, was described as a “feel good, beautiful story,” by a member of the crew.
Michaela Pope, the crew’s location manager, said: “My brief for the film was to show off York.
“York is the character of the film. We are very excited to be here.”
The production company for the film is Date For My Dad Productions.
