PRELIMINARY ground work has begun to build the UK’s first Tree Health Centre at the Yorkshire Arboretum.
The centre will offer courses and training to expand awareness about the threats posed to our trees and the solutions to promote healthier trees for the future.
Construction is expected to take seven months and the arboretum is planning to open the new centre in the autumn of 2020.
A spokesman for the Yorkshire Arboretum said: “The disruptions mean the unfortunate cancellation of the Yorkshire Arboretum’s popular Welly Walks on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. They will return next year and we sincerely apologise for any disappointment this necessary decision may cause.
