WELBURN Primary School raised more than £700 at its summer fete earlier this month.
The sun shone on the fete which drew crowds of parents, grandparents, governors and past staff members.
The children decided to ask previous school cook, Majorie Murray, to officially open the fete.
“We all have very good memories of Mrs Murray,” said Beth Steel, school councillor. There were several stalls, all run by children, selling things from plants and cakes to toys and games.
The pupils also organised games like penalty shootout and guess the name of the bear.
The children chose to support a range of charities, including the Dogs’ Trust, RSPCA, World Wildlife Fund, The Salvation Army, Stonewall, Cancer Research and Winston’s Wish.
A school spokesman thanked all the local businesses that had donated prizes to the raffle.
“I am very proud of all of the children,” said Mrs Marsden, Class 4 teacher. “They have all worked in their groups incredibly hard.
“They’ve learnt a lot from this experience and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.”
