THE skies across Ryedale were lit up by a spectacular display of colour at the annual Kaboom firework display on Saturday evening.

Held at Castle Howard, the main event was delayed by around half an hour due to mist, eventually getting underway just after 8.30pm.

Set to music from James Bond films, the firework show took place over the lake at the stately home lasting around 20 minutes.

The display was followed by a screening of the 80s film Back to the Future on a big screen.

Mark Brayshaw, Kaboom event organiser said: “An incredible crowd of around 10,000 people came to Kaboom at Castle Howard to see the most spectacular display of special effects, take part in the ‘Chills and Thrills’ activities and enjoy our movie screenings and entertainment.

"Kaboom is now established as the biggest firework display in North Yorkshire and each year we strive to bring extra sparkle to everyone’s Halloween and bonfire night celebrations.

“This year we were proud to include a specialist aerial display team in the Kaboom line-up who took flight above the magnificent Castle Howard to paint the sky with pyrotechnics. It's the first time in Europe the revolutionary night-flight performance has been combined with a firework display to entertain crowds.”
