A NEW singing group is being launched for the over 60s.
Ruth Hannah, a former teacher who lives in Huttons Ambo, has recently set up Musical Memories after working for a number of years both locally and abroad.
She said: "Musical Memories provides high quality, interactive music and singing sessions tailored to need, for the over 60s who live in their own homes in Ryedale - giving people the chance to come together to sing and chat and reminisce over a cuppa at a local community venue.
"Musical Memories aims to reach out to everyone regardless of musical ability, mobility difficulties or physical limitations and in this way hopes to promote social inclusion, improve local connections and increase happiness and well-being."
The first 'Happy Hour' singing session will be held on Monday, October 5, 11.am - 12noon, and every Monday after that at the WRVS Hungate Centre in Pickering.
Ruth said: "It is aimed at anyone over the age of 60 who would like to raise their spirits by singing all their favourite songs from days gone by, with live accompaniment from the piano and guitar. Everyone can benefit from the chance to sing together."
Songbooks will be provided along with tea and coffee too. The cost is £2 per session.
