A TEAM of Street Angels will be on patrol in Malton this weekend as they face one of the busiest times of the year.

Set up in July, the team help and support people enjoying a night out.

Initiated by PC Jane Jones, of Malton police, and Jane Varey, from Norton, who has volunteered as a Street Angel in York, the aim is to support people who may be struggling to get home safely and help diffuse situations before they get out of hand.

Jane said they were going out on the first and last Saturdays in the month and were prepared for a busy weekend.

She said they had two teams at the moment and were in need of more male volunteers.
