RYEDALE Lions Club is collecting presents to donate to the Salvation Army, which will distribute to underprivileged children at Christmas.
The club has started the ball rolling with an initial donation of £300 worth of toys and is now inviting local people to support its toy appeal. Anyone who wants to buy a gift for the appeal can benefit from a discount at three shops in Pickering – Coopers, the Model Centre and the Toy and Book Warehouse, which has also donated £60 worth of toys and books.
Lions member Roy Foggin, organiser of the gift collection, said: “We were overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of members andthe public who gave more than 100 presents last year and we hope to do even better this year.”
Donations can be made via the shops or by phoning Roy Foggin on 01751 473656.
