FIREFIGHTERS were on the scene at a fire to a combine harvester and crop field in a North Yorkshire village yesterday (August 14).
Appliances from Ripon and Thirsk responded to a combine harvester on fire that spread to an area of standing crop measuring 10sqm in Ampleforth at 6.03pm.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue service said: “The combine had been extinguishing by the farmer prior to arrival of crews using dry powder extinguishers.
“Fire crews extinguished the field using beaters and a hose reel jet.”
