SCARBOROUGH and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team attended a callout to a man who had fallen on one of the bike routes in Dalby Forest yesterday afternoon.
The team was called by the Forest Rangers at 1.37pm to the cyclist who was reported to have shoulder, chest and potential spinal injuries.
A spokesperson said: "Once on scene we triaged his injuries and made him as comfortable as possible until Paramedics from the Yorkshire Air Ambulance joined us. After further assessment we evacuated him on one of our stretchers in a vacuum mattress and casualty bag to the track at the end of the section and then via one of our team vehicles to a Yorkshire Ambulance Service road ambulance at the visitor centre in Low Dalby and onward to definitive medical care."
They added: "We would like to thank the group of cyclists following the gentleman at the time of the accident who made him and his son comfortable, alerted the forest rangers and then stayed to help throughout the rescue. Thirteen team members were deployed for almost four hours."
