A COMBINE harvester has caught fire, with the blaze spreading to a field of corn.
Fire crews from Pickering, Malton and Kirkbymoorside stations were called to the scene at Newbridge, Pickering at around 6.30pm on Monday evening.
They found the combine burning in a two-acre field of standing and cut corn.
The crews used hoses, triple extension ladders, thermal imaging cameras and beaters when tackling the blaze.
The Kirkbymoorside crews were also able to make use of their special all-terrain argocat vehicle to help fight the fire.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue said that the fire was caused by a hydraulic fault on the combine harvester.
