A SPECIAL apple day is being held next weekend as part of a fundraising campaign to refurbish Huttons Ambo Village Hall.
Members of the village hall committee are aiming to raise funds to refurbish the kitchen and toilet facilities in the hall which is regularly used by a number of groups, including the art club, the monthly village social "The Meeting Point", quarterly quizzes and more.
Organisers said the apple day, on Saturday, October 17, would be a family afternoon of "tree related fun".
At 1.30pm there will be a walk around the the fruit trees in the village, curated by the Northern Fruit Group, from the church, followed by entertainment on the village green from 2.30pm to 4.30pm, including Morris dancing, children’s craft activities led by the Yorkshire Arboretum, apple food treats and games.
There will also be a raffle with a star prize voucher for a fruit tree donated by RV Rogers, Pickering.
A spokesman for the committee said: "Bring your apples and containers and there will be presses you can use to make your own juice and much much more. Please support this fundraiser – it will be a fun day for everyone."
